For school holidays - this is the long-awaited time to rest. Finally, you do not have to get up at 7 am, go to school and do your homework. Already on the first of September, many students are counting the remaining days before the holidays in the hope of having them fun and interesting.
Knowing the exact vacation schedule is important not only for the students themselves, but also for the parents. After all, they want their children to spend their legitimate weekend interesting and most exciting. Some take vacation at work and go on an entertaining trip.
The vacation calendar is developed by the Department of Education of the Russian Federation and is only advisory in nature. The school administration can vary the start and end dates of the holidays at its discretion, based on the curriculum or other internal document.
Separate schools study not in quarters, as is customary in most educational institutions, but in a new modern modular system providing for trimester education. For them, the Department of Education provides additional guidance on vacation schedules.
Vacation for schools, studying in quarters
The autumn holidays have already passed at the end of October and the first days of November, therefore we will immediately turn to the most important for many schoolchildren - the winter holidays, which so successfully coincide with the parents' days off.
According to official recommendations, the winter holidays begin at the end of December and end in the first decade of January. The winter break schedule is the same for schools that are trained in quarters and trimesters.
Most schools finish their studies on December 22. The remaining week of the outgoing year from December 25 to January 31 most of the students will be busy with holiday trees and other events. Agree, children will not remember about studying at such an exciting time.
From the beginning of the year school holidays will coincide with official holidays throughout the country and will last until January 8, 2018. Again, at school desks, students will sit down only on January 9, 2018.
Spring break for school students 2018
After a long 3 quarters, schoolchildren are eagerly awaiting the start of spring break. Spring break starts on March 26, 2018 and ends on April 1, 2018, which falls on a day off, so schoolchildren will start to study only on Monday, April 2, 2018.
Summer holidays for school students 2018
Traditionally, summer holidays take all summer months of the year - from June 1 to August 31, 2018. For the lower grades, the end of the school year is scheduled for May 23, for middle and high schools - for May 26. This applies to those schools that are trained in quarters. For educational institutions with the form of training for trimesters, the summer vacation will officially begin later - May 31.
For all high school students, the approach of summer vacations is not only a long-awaited vacation, but also the passage of the main stage of the OGE-2018 and EGE-2018, which usually begins in late May and can continue until the beginning of July.
Changes to recommended vacation dates
Our country is so huge that it is not possible to create a single calendar of school holidays. In each area there are certain situations that affect the duration of weekends and school days.
These include:
- quarantine
- very coldy
- other weather conditions (floods, squally wind, etc.)
If such “force majeure” periods take 2-3 days of the curriculum, then many schoolchildren and teachers can “catch up” with the program. But if such “passes” accumulate from a week or more, then the school administration has the right to independently change the vacation calendar or transfer some days off to the category of study days.
Legislative initiatives regarding vacations 2018
Recently, the question of making the dates of all holidays uniform for all educational institutions in the country has been actively discussed. On the one hand, it is very convenient for holding olympiads, competitions or children's events.
An independent opinion survey was conducted, where respondents were offered a choice of the following options:
- leave the rules for setting holidays unchanged
- go from quarters to trimesters with increasing holidays
- split the school year into 5 parts with a weekly vacation in between.
The majority of respondents voted for the current system, when each school can adjust the days off of their students on their own. Thus, significant changes in the schedule of school holidays in the near future is not expected.
